Thu Feb 06 20:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Kharge Slams Modi’s Budget Speech as “Full of Lies and Half-Truths”

**New Delhi, February 7, 2025** – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply to the Motion of Thanks on the presidential address, accusing the Prime Minister of dwelling on the past and neglecting pressing current issues. In a post on X, Kharge stated that a leader focused solely on history cannot effectively build the nation’s present and future.

Kharge criticized Modi’s speech as filled with “lies and half-truths,” asserting that under the current government, India faces a bleak future due to high unemployment, inflation, economic inequality, recession, a weakening rupee, declining private investment, and the failure of the “Make in India” initiative.

He further refuted Modi’s claims regarding the Congress party’s role in the drafting of the Constitution, highlighting the Congress’s instrumental role in abolishing zamindari, implementing land reforms, and extending reservations for backward classes. Kharge also countered Modi’s assertions about B.R. Ambedkar’s involvement in the Constituent Assembly, emphasizing that the Congress actively facilitated Ambedkar’s inclusion and his subsequent appointment as the first Law Minister. He cited a letter from Ambedkar himself implicating S.A. Dange and V.D. Savarkar in his previous electoral defeat. The sharp exchange comes amidst the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.
