**Bengaluru, February 7, 2025** – Ongoing white-topping work on J.C. Road in Bengaluru is causing significant traffic congestion, impacting commuters and businesses alike. The 1.5 km stretch between Minerva Circle and Town Hall, a key route connecting south Bengaluru to the city center, has become a major bottleneck since the work began a month ago.
Commuters report travel times have increased by more than double, with journeys that usually take 5-7 minutes now taking over 15 minutes. The situation is further exacerbated by dust, creating a health hazard for those traveling through the area.
Shopkeepers along J.C. Road are experiencing a sharp decline in business due to reduced customer access and excessive dust entering their shops. Many report that the work, which has been intermittently paused, has severely hampered their ability to operate.
Traffic police are struggling to manage the heavy congestion, while the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Engineer, B.S. Prahlad, assures that the project is expected to be completed by May 31st. However, until then, Bengaluru motorists and businesses face continued disruption along this vital thoroughfare.
