CHENNAI, February 7, 2025 – Edappadi K. Palaniswami, general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has strongly condemned two reported attacks against women in Tamil Nadu. He criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government for its failure to ensure women’s safety.
One incident involved the alleged assault of a woman sub-inspector inside a Sivaganga district police station. The other involved a pregnant woman allegedly pushed from a Coimbatore-Tirupati train. Palaniswami expressed outrage, stating that women in Tamil Nadu are unsafe on roads, in educational institutions, and now even on trains. He attributed the rising incidents to the DMK government’s lack of focus on women’s safety and demanded stringent action against those responsible. Separately, three government school teachers were arrested in Krishnagiri district for the sexual assault of a student.
