**New Delhi, February 7, 2025** – The Indian National Congress has launched a scathing attack on the government’s handling of the deportation of undocumented Indian immigrants from the United States, calling the method “inhuman” and vowing nationwide protests.
Opposition MPs, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, staged a demonstration outside Parliament on Thursday to denounce the deportations, specifically criticizing the use of a military plane for the operation.
Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that all state units of the party will hold protests on Friday to express their strong opposition to both the treatment of the deportees and the government’s perceived weak response. Uday Bhanu Chib, chief of the Indian Youth Congress, led a separate protest in New Delhi, calling the deportations an “insult to India and Indians on the world stage.” The protests are expected to take place at state capitals and district headquarters across the country.
