**Santa Clara, CA** – The San Francisco 49ers are bolstering their coaching staff with the addition of experienced NFL coach Gus Bradley, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The move reunites Bradley with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, with whom he previously collaborated at the Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Bradley, 58, most recently served as the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator. His extensive coaching resume includes stints as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-2016) and defensive coordinator roles with the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Seattle Seahawks. His NFL coaching career began in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While his specific role with the 49ers remains unconfirmed, the hiring marks a significant addition to Kyle Shanahan’s team. The connection with Saleh, who was previously a candidate for the 49ers defensive coordinator position, suggests a possible defensive-focused role for Bradley. Interestingly, Shanahan attempted to hire Bradley as his defensive coordinator in 2017 before ultimately selecting Saleh.
