Wed Feb 05 17:49:20 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Nurse Suspended for Using Fevikwik on Child’s Wound

**Haveri, Karnataka –** A nurse in Karnataka has been suspended after using Fevikwik, a strong adhesive, to close a deep wound on a seven-year-old boy instead of stitches. The incident, which occurred on January 14th at the Adoor Primary Health Centre in Haveri district, sparked public outrage after a video emerged showing the nurse, identified as Jyoti, dismissing the parents’ concerns. In the video, the nurse reportedly claimed she had used this method for years and that it prevented scarring.

The child, Gurukishan Annappa Hosamani, was bleeding profusely from a cheek wound when his parents brought him to the health center. Following their official complaint and submission of the video evidence, a preliminary investigation was launched. The Health and Family Welfare Services Commissioner’s Office stated that using Fevikwik for wound closure violates medical regulations.

While initially transferred to another facility on February 3rd, Jyoti’s suspension was announced Wednesday following a meeting chaired by the state’s Chief Secretary. The child is reportedly in good health, but health authorities have been instructed to monitor him for any potential adverse effects. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
