Wed Feb 05 12:50:00 IST 2025: ## Western Washington Braces for Continued Snow, Sub-Freezing Temperatures
**Seattle, WA** – Western Washington is experiencing a prolonged period of wintry weather, with snow showers impacting the region through the early part of the week. KING 5 has issued a First Alert through Tuesday morning, warning of potential impacts to travel, property, and life safety.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of the Puget Sound region until 10 a.m. Tuesday, extending to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and parts of the coast until 1 p.m. The advisory includes the I-5 corridor from north Snohomish County to Pierce County, the Hood Canal area, and the north Olympia Peninsula. Up to two inches of snow accumulation is possible in these areas, though snowfall will be localized due to scattered showers.
Another round of rain and snow showers is expected Tuesday, with further flurries possible throughout the week and into the weekend.
Meanwhile, a Cold Weather Advisory is in place for western Whatcom County until 10 a.m. Wednesday, as increasing Fraser River outflow winds bring frigid air to the Northwest Interior. Overnight temperatures are forecast to plummet into the teens and twenties, feeling potentially closer to 0 degrees Fahrenheit with wind chill, increasing the risk of hypothermia. High temperatures across the region will remain in the 30s throughout the week. The coldest nights are expected from Tuesday through Friday. Residents are urged to take precautions against the cold weather.
