**Tiruppur, February 5, 2025** – A former Assistant Engineer with the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco) has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment for accepting a bribe. S. Muthukrishnan (59), who was arrested in 2013, was found guilty by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Cum Special Judge in Tiruppur.

Muthukrishnan was caught red-handed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) while receiving ₹8,500 from a complainant seeking power connections for his new shops in Udumalpet. The incident occurred on July 3, 2013, following a complaint filed by K.V. Babu. Muthukrishnan was charged under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and additionally fined ₹4,000. The sentence concludes a twelve-year-long legal process following his arrest.
