Wed Feb 05 15:35:02 UTC 2025: ## RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to Embark on 10-Day West Bengal Tour

**Kolkata, February 5, 2025** – Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will undertake a 10-day tour of West Bengal starting February 7th, the RSS’s West Bengal unit announced today. The visit, described as purely for organizational purposes, will involve meetings with RSS members and pracharaks across the state, culminating in a rally in Burdwan on February 16th.

Jishnu Basu, an RSS campaign leader, stated that the tour aims to strengthen the organization and expand its membership. While the visit coincides with the RSS’s centenary year and precedes the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, senior RSS members denied any political motivations.

Addressing concerns about caste discrimination within Hinduism, Mr. Basu emphasized the RSS’s long-held belief in the brotherhood of all Hindus, asserting that their stance on the issue is not a new approach. He described casteism as “like cancer,” linking it to religious conversions driven by discrimination.

Mr. Bhagwat’s tour follows recent India-Bangladesh tensions which sparked protests in West Bengal. However, senior RSS members declined to comment on whether the issue would be discussed during the visit. The RSS chief is expected to arrive in Kolkata on February 6th.
