**Mysuru, February 5, 2025** – The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), a prominent farmers’ organization, has accused the ruling Congress government of failing to uphold its election promises and continuing the allegedly anti-farmer policies of the previous BJP administration. In a strongly worded letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KRRS president Badagalpura Nagendra expressed deep concern over the lack of progress on key issues, including the repeal of amendments to the Land Reforms Act and APMC Act introduced by the BJP.

Nagendra highlighted the Congress party’s past opposition to these amendments, which he claims opened the agricultural sector to corporate control. He criticized the government’s apparent adherence to BJP guidelines in setting agricultural prices and warned of potential street protests if the situation doesn’t improve.

The KRRS letter specifically cited unfulfilled Congress election manifesto promises, such as repealing “anti-farmer laws,” dropping politically motivated cases against farmers, implementing Minimum Support Price (MSP), and increasing interest-free loan amounts. The lack of legal status for MSP, in particular, was described as a betrayal of farmers’ trust. The letter was signed by several leaders from various farmers’ organizations across the state. The KRRS has demanded immediate clarification from the government regarding its intentions and threatened further action if their demands are not met.
