The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the question papers, answer keys, and recorded responses for the January session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 on Tuesday. However, the release has sparked controversy, with objections raised against 17 questions across the ten exam shifts.
Following the examination, experts in Kota, a major coaching hub, along with students, reviewed the answer key and identified discrepancies between the NTA’s official answers and their own analyses. A total of 17 questions are now under challenge. Dr. Brijesh Maheshwari, director of a private coaching institute, stated that Kota’s expert faculty compared recorded responses with the answer key and discovered the inconsistencies.
One physics question from the January 23rd morning shift has already been dropped by the NTA. If the agency accepts the challenges to the remaining 17 questions, all students who answered those questions correctly in the respective shifts will receive the benefit, regardless of whether they filed an objection. Further, if any question is dropped, all candidates in that shift will receive four bonus marks, even if they didn’t attempt the question.
Candidates are urged to download their question papers and recorded responses by Thursday night at 11:50 PM as they will be removed from the NTA website afterwards. The NTA is accepting objections until February 6th.
