Wed Feb 05 11:40:00 IST 2025: ## Trump Jr. Under Investigation for Possible Illegal Hunting in Italy

**Milan, Italy** – Italian authorities are investigating a hunting trip led by Donald Trump Jr. following allegations that a protected ruddy shelduck was killed. A video posted online shows Trump Jr. posing with the deceased bird, prompting outrage from Italian politicians.

Andrea Zanoni of the Europa Verde party and Luana Zanella, a Greens lawmaker, have called for an investigation into the hunting party’s activities in the Valle Pierimpie’ wetlands near Venice. Killing the ruddy shelduck, a protected species in Europe, is a criminal offense in Italy.

While the video doesn’t explicitly show who killed the duck, Zanoni has appealed to Veneto legislators and the Italian environment minister to take action, potentially including the suspension or revocation of the hunting reserve’s permit. The hunt is believed to have taken place in December, as a Christmas tree is visible in the video.

A spokesman for Trump Jr., Andy Surabian, stated that the hunting party possessed the necessary permits and were hunting in a legally designated area. He added that while it’s unclear how the duck died, Trump Jr. takes conservation seriously and will cooperate fully with any investigation. The investigation will determine whether the duck was unintentionally shot by a member of Trump Jr.’s party, another hunting group, or killed by other means. Hunting is strictly regulated in Italy, with non-residents requiring permits to hunt on private reserves.
