Wed Feb 05 07:04:10 UTC 2025: ## US Tech Millionaire Renews Criticism of India’s Air Pollution, Citing New Study

**Mumbai, India –** Bryan Johnson, a US tech millionaire known for his anti-aging research, has again condemned India’s poor air quality, days after abruptly leaving a podcast interview due to pollution concerns. In a recent X post, Johnson highlighted a study showing that even low levels of traffic-related PM2.5 air pollution can cause significant health problems in mice, including liver inflammation, fibrosis, blood fat imbalances, and gene dysregulation linked to cancer.

The study, which exposed mice to 12 weeks of PM2.5 pollutants collected from busy roads, provides stark evidence that there is no safe level of exposure to air pollution, Johnson argued. He emphasized the need for India to treat air pollution as a public health emergency, particularly in heavily polluted cities.

Johnson’s renewed criticism follows his controversial exit from a podcast interview with Zerodha CEO Nikhil Kamath last month. Despite an air purifier and N95 mask, Johnson cited the circulating outside air as intolerable, noting skin irritation, eye burning, and throat irritation. He expressed concern about the normalization of severe air pollution in India, pointing out the lack of widespread mask usage even among children and adults.

Johnson offered several suggestions for reducing exposure to air pollution, including monitoring PM2.5 levels, using N95 masks, and activating air recirculation in vehicles. His posts have sparked further outrage among Indians already deeply concerned about the health impacts of chronic air pollution. The incident underscores the significant public health challenge posed by air pollution in India and the need for urgent action to improve air quality.
