**ERODE, February 5, 2025** – Election officials in Erode have seized over ₹54.13 lakh in unaccounted cash and materials during the ongoing by-election campaign for the Erode (East) Assembly constituency. This follows increased vehicle checks implemented since the model code of conduct came into effect on January 7th.
While ₹41.85 lakh has been released after verification of supporting documents, the seized goods also include 91.48 liters of liquor, ganja, tablets, and sarees/garments, totaling approximately ₹1.76 lakh. Police have registered 65 cases related to violations of the model code of conduct. The seizures highlight ongoing efforts to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
