Wed Feb 05 14:46:20 UTC 2025: ## Exit Polls Predict BJP’s Return to Power in Delhi After 26 Years
**New Delhi, February 7, 2025** – Almost all exit polls conducted after voting concluded in the Delhi Assembly elections predict a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marking a potential return to power in the national capital after more than two decades. Voting for all 70 assembly seats took place on Wednesday, with vote counting scheduled for February 8th.
Several agencies, including Matrize, P-Mark, People’s Insight, and People’s Pulse, have projected a BJP win, with varying seat projections. Matrize predicts 35-39 seats for the BJP, while P-Mark suggests a larger victory between 39-49 seats. People’s Insight estimates BJP to win 40-44 seats, and People’s Pulse projects a massive win of 51-60 seats for the party. Across all polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is predicted to suffer a significant loss, with projections ranging from 10-37 seats. The Congress party is predicted to struggle, with most polls indicating that they might fail to win even a single seat.
One outlier, Mind Brink, presented an exit poll suggesting that the AAP could retain a majority. However, this contradicts the overall trend indicated by other agencies.
BJP leaders have reacted positively to the exit poll predictions, with several expressing confidence in a decisive victory and hinting at a change in leadership if the BJP forms the government. AAP, on the other hand, has dismissed the exit polls, suggesting that their predictions will prove inaccurate.
Despite these predictions, the final outcome will only be clear after the official counting of votes on February 8th. The high voter turnout, exceeding 57% in many constituencies, suggests a keenly contested election, particularly in Muslim-majority areas. Reports of alleged voter fraud in some areas have also emerged, prompting responses from election officials and political parties. The Election Commission had imposed a temporary ban on exit poll reporting earlier in the day.
