Wed Feb 05 07:19:53 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Votes in Close Three-Way Race for Assembly
**New Delhi, February 5, 2025** – Delhiites are heading to the polls today in a closely contested three-way battle for the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. Voting began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM, with approximately 1.56 crore voters choosing between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress. A paid holiday has been declared for both public and private sector employees in Delhi, as well as in neighboring Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The election is a crucial one for all three parties. AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeks a third consecutive term. The BJP, absent from power in Delhi for 27 years, is campaigning aggressively, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the charge against Kejriwal, focusing on alleged corruption and Yamuna water issues. Congress, which previously held power for 15 years, aims to regain its foothold. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have actively campaigned, criticizing AAP’s infrastructure management.
Key candidates include Kejriwal himself (New Delhi), Atishi (Kalkaji), Manish Sisodia (Jangpura), and Satyendar Jain (Shakur Basti) from AAP, facing off against BJP and Congress nominees.
Initial voter turnout figures released by the Election Commission show 8.10% by 9 AM and 19.95% by 11 AM. Exit polls will be released after 6:30 PM, with the official results announced on February 8. The outcome will determine the future governance of the national capital.
