Wed Feb 05 15:11:18 UTC 2025: ## BJP Poised for Delhi Comeback, Exit Polls Predict
**New Delhi** – Delhi concluded its 2025 Assembly elections with a 57.70% voter turnout by 5 pm, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Exit polls, released after the polls closed, paint a picture of a potential BJP victory, marking a possible return to power in the national capital after a 27-year absence.
Most exit polls predict a significant win for the BJP, with projections ranging from 39 to 60 seats out of 70. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently in power, is predicted to secure between 21 and 31 seats, while the Congress is projected to win few, if any, seats. One exit poll, Matrize, offered a more closely contested race. The AAP has dismissed the exit polls, claiming past underestimations of their performance.
The election saw a fierce three-way contest between the AAP, BJP, and Congress, with a total of 1.56 crore eligible voters participating across 13,766 polling stations. High-profile contests included the Kalkaji constituency, featuring Chief Minister Atishi (AAP), Alka Lamba (Congress), and Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP), and the New Delhi constituency, where Arvind Kejriwal (AAP) faced off against Parvesh Varma (BJP) and Sandeep Dikshit (Congress).
The election day was marked by several incidents. Allegations of bogus voting were made by both the BJP and AAP, leading to police intervention and detentions. Accusations of vote buying and intimidation were also exchanged between the two major parties. The ECI investigated several complaints.
Despite these incidents, the ECI implemented a Queue Management System app to help manage voter flow, and made provisions for senior citizens and people with disabilities. The final voter turnout figures are expected soon from the ECI. Vote counting will take place on February 8th. The exit polls have sparked intense debate, with both BJP and AAP leaders reacting to the predictions with confidence and criticism, respectively.
