**New Delhi:** The Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for Wednesday, have been overshadowed by allegations of vote-buying and criticism of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP alleges that the personal assistant of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was apprehended with ₹5 lakh in cash, allegedly intended for voter distribution. An FIR has been filed in Girikhand Nagar.
Separately, an FIR was filed against Kejriwal himself in Kurukshetra, Haryana, over comments about the Yamuna river’s water. Adding to the pressure, veteran social activist Anna Hazare, a former associate of Kejriwal, criticized the Chief Minister, stating that Kejriwal’s focus shifted to “liquor shop business” and abandoning their shared principles. Hazare also commented on Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia’s legal troubles, stating that those who commit wrongdoings will face legal consequences.
The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is seeking a third consecutive term but faces a strong challenge from the BJP and a hopeful Congress party. The election results will be announced on February 8.
