**COIMBATORE, February 5, 2025** – The Coimbatore Corporation is set to widen a congested road junction in the city to improve traffic flow. The junction, located near Avila School on Thadagam Road, connects Thadagam Road and NSR Road and is a key transit point for numerous town buses. Currently, the narrow junction, further complicated by non-functional traffic signals and encroachments, causes significant delays and safety concerns for commuters, including school buses.

Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran has ordered officials to demarcate the boundaries of the junction, remove encroachments, and relocate an electric pole and traffic signal tower to facilitate widening. While the construction of a roundabout is deemed impractical due to space limitations, the corporation will focus on clearing existing obstructions to create more space for vehicles. The project aims to alleviate the significant traffic congestion experienced daily at this crucial junction.
