**Hyderabad, February 5, 2025** – Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has hailed the state’s recently completed caste survey as a resounding success, with nearly 97% participation. He attributed the high participation rate to the public’s positive response to the government’s initiative aimed at improving the targeting of welfare schemes.
Vikramarka described the survey as a “full body check-up” and an “X-ray,” echoing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s description, enabling the government to better reach marginalized communities. He stated that the data, excluding individual-specific information, will soon be made public in three volumes.
The Deputy CM acknowledged attempts by “vested interests” to undermine the survey but emphasized that these efforts were unsuccessful. He believes Telangana’s initiative will now serve as a model for other states. The survey’s data will be instrumental in planning and implementing more effective welfare programs for vulnerable populations.
