Wed Feb 05 13:26:33 IST 2025: ## Kejriwal Casts Vote as Delhi Elects New Government
**NEW DELHI** – Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal cast his vote today alongside his family in the New Delhi Assembly segment, where he is seeking re-election. Mr. Kejriwal, accompanied by his parents (in wheelchairs), wife, and son, voted at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School. He urged voters to choose development and honesty, expressing hope that “hooliganism will lose, and Delhi will win.”
This election sees a three-way contest in the New Delhi constituency, with Mr. Kejriwal facing BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit – both sons of former Chief Ministers. A total of 699 candidates are vying for 70 Assembly seats across Delhi, where 1.5 crore registered voters will decide the fate of the competing parties. The AAP secured a landslide victory in 2020, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP managed only eight. This year, the BJP is actively campaigning to challenge the AAP’s dominance.
