Wed Feb 05 15:19:56 UTC 2025: **CPI(M) Condemns Andhra Pradesh’s P4 Policy, Demands Clarity on Special Status**
Vijayawada, February 5, 2025 – The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) in Andhra Pradesh voiced strong criticism today of the state government’s proposed P4 (public-private-people partnerships) policy, alleging it is a veiled attempt to privatize public assets. Party state secretary V. Srinivasa Rao stated at a press conference that the policy lacks transparency and will lead to the looting of public resources and their handover to private companies. He called for a thorough discussion in the state Assembly and an all-party meeting before implementation, scheduled for Ugadi.
The CPI(M) also criticized the state government’s “Vision 2047” plan, deeming it as lacking clarity, following the perceived failure of the previous “Vision 2020” initiative. The party demanded clarification on the role of the public and the benefits they will receive under the P4 policy.
Furthermore, the CPI(M) renewed its demand for special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, arguing that it is crucial for attracting investments, creating jobs, and addressing the state’s economic needs. The party accused the ruling party of neglecting the SCS issue, contrasting this with the Janata Dal (United)’s continued efforts to secure SCS for Bihar. They asserted that Andhra Pradesh’s rightful claim to special status has been compromised due to the lack of necessary funding.
