Wed Feb 05 13:32:42 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Exit Polls Predict BJP Victory, AAP Disputes Findings
**New Delhi:** Exit polls suggest a potential end to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) dominance in Delhi, with most predicting a BJP victory in the recently concluded assembly elections. Eight out of ten exit polls forecast a BJP win, while only two predict an AAP victory, and one suggests a close contest.
While the specific seat projections vary, an aggregate of the polls suggests AAP winning around 30 seats and BJP securing approximately 39 out of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. The Congress is predicted to win only a handful of seats. One poll, Matrize, even projected a margin of 37 seats for AAP.
However, AAP has vehemently rejected these predictions. AAP leader Sushil Gupta stated that exit polls have been inaccurate in previous Delhi elections and expressed confidence in an AAP victory. He pointed to the party’s track record of improving education and healthcare services, and highlighted their discounted power and water bills.
The BJP’s campaign focused heavily on corruption allegations against AAP leaders, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia, who have faced jail time on various corruption charges. These allegations, particularly the alleged liquor scam and the refurbishment of Kejriwal’s official residence, seemingly impacted AAP’s image.
Despite these challenges, AAP employed a grassroots, door-to-door campaign, contrasting with the BJP’s high-profile approach. The party also highlighted its achievements in governance, although the BJP dismissed these as mere “revdi” or vote-buying schemes.
AAP further faced hurdles due to ongoing friction with the Lieutenant Governor, appointed by the central government, and the resulting bureaucratic challenges. A Supreme Court case addressing the LG’s powers is pending.
The actual results will be revealed on Saturday, when the vote count begins, determining whether the exit polls accurately reflected the electorate’s sentiment or if AAP will defy the predictions once again.
