**Seoul, South Korea (Date)** – South Korea is bracing for a frigid Tuesday, with widespread sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfall expected across much of the country, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The KMA forecasts morning lows plummeting to -18°C to -4°C, with highs only reaching -7°C to 2°C. Specific locations will experience lows ranging from -13°C in Seoul to -1°C in Jeju. Highs will similarly range from -6°C in Incheon to 2°C in Jeju.
Heavy snowfall is particularly expected in Jeolla, Jeju, and surrounding areas, with warnings already issued. Snowfall rates are predicted to reach 1-3 centimeters per hour in these regions, and even 3-5 centimeters per hour in mountainous areas of Jeju and on Ulleungdo and Dokdo islands.
Strong winds are also forecast, with wind advisories in effect for the west coast of South Chungcheong Province, the Jeolla coast, the east coast of Gyeongsang, and Jeju Island. High winds are expected throughout much of the country.
Despite the harsh weather, air quality is expected to remain excellent nationwide due to the influx of clean air from the northwest.
Sea conditions will be rough, with wave heights expected to reach between 1.0 and 3.5 meters in the East and West Seas, and 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the South Sea. Further offshore, wave heights will be even higher.
Citizens are advised to take precautions against the cold, heavy snowfall, and strong winds.
