Tue Feb 04 05:58:18 UTC 2025: ## Mass Deportation of Indian Nationals from US on Military Aircraft

**Washington D.C./New Delhi –** A US military C-17 aircraft carrying 205 Indian nationals deported from the United States landed in India earlier today. This marks the first large-scale deportation of illegal Indian immigrants under a new joint initiative between the US and India. Sources confirmed that each deportee’s identity was verified by New Delhi, signifying India’s cooperation in the repatriation process.

The deportation flight, which originated in Texas, is reportedly the first of many planned deportations. The move aligns with US President Donald Trump’s tough stance on illegal immigration and follows similar deportations to Central American countries using military aircraft. President Trump previously announced the use of military aircraft for deportations last month.

The mass deportation comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the US, his first since President Trump’s re-election. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has previously stated its willingness to accept the return of Indian citizens residing illegally abroad, provided proper documentation is provided for verification. The MEA also reiterated its stance against illegal immigration, citing links to organized crime.

According to reports, India and the US have identified approximately 18,000 Indian nationals who entered the US illegally. A spokesperson for the US Embassy in New Delhi emphasized the US government’s commitment to enforcing its border security and immigration laws, stating that these actions serve as a deterrent to future illegal migration. The cramped conditions aboard the C-17, which only has one toilet for 205 passengers, have also been noted.
