**Thane, Maharashtra –** Thane police have arrested two individuals and an investment firm for allegedly defrauding a 70-year-old Mumbai resident of Rs 72.98 lakh through a fraudulent share trading scheme. The victim, who had been staying in Thane for the past five months, was contacted via various digital platforms by the accused, who promised high returns on investments. After investing the substantial sum, the victim received neither returns nor his principal. When he attempted to contact the accused, they ceased communication, prompting him to file a police complaint on Sunday.
A case has been registered against the two individuals and the unnamed investment firm under relevant sections of the law. Police are currently investigating the extent of the fraud and attempting to locate the accused. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of additional victims. Thane police have issued a public warning urging citizens to exercise extreme caution when engaging in online investments and to thoroughly verify the legitimacy of any financial scheme before transferring funds.
