**Ramallah, February 3, 2025** – The Palestinian Authority has condemned a recent Israeli military operation in the occupied West Bank as “ethnic cleansing,” following the deaths of 70 Palestinians since the beginning of the year. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that the victims include 10 children, one woman, and two elderly people, with the majority of deaths concentrated in Jenin and Tubas.
The Israeli military launched a major offensive in Jenin on January 21st, targeting Palestinian armed groups. While the Israeli army claims to have killed over 50 “terrorists” during the operation, the Palestinian presidency spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, denounced the actions as part of a broader plan to displace Palestinians. The PA is calling for US intervention to stop the “ongoing Israeli aggression.”
This condemnation comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu begins talks in Washington on a second phase of the Gaza ceasefire. This next stage will focus on the release of remaining hostages and a more permanent end to the conflict.
