**New Delhi, February 4, 2025** – All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly condemned the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, warning that its current form will trigger social instability. Speaking during a debate on the President’s Address in Parliament on Monday, Mr. Owaisi asserted that the Bill has been widely rejected by the Muslim community and its implementation would evoke the social climate of the 1980s and early 1990s.
Mr. Owaisi cautioned the government, stating that enacting the Bill in its present form would violate Articles 25, 26, and 14 of the Constitution. He emphasized the Muslim community’s unwavering opposition and predicted the complete loss of Waqf properties if the Bill is passed.
He further declared that he, as a proud Indian Muslim, would fiercely defend religious properties, stating, “I will not lose an inch of my Masjid… I will not lose an inch of my Dargah.” Mr. Owaisi asserted that Waqf properties are not gifts but rightfully belong to the community and cannot be taken away. He rejected any further diplomatic approach, stating his intention to speak honestly about the community’s concerns in Parliament.
