Tue Feb 04 05:33:19 UTC 2025: ## India Overhauls Squad for ODI Series Against England, Eyeing Champions Trophy

**New Delhi** – India’s resounding 4-1 T20I series victory over England has given way to anticipation for the upcoming ODI series, starting on October 6th. While the series itself is significant, both teams are primarily using it as preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025, commencing on October 19th.

Rohit Sharma, who had a disappointing previous Test series, will lead the Indian ODI squad. A major squad overhaul is underway, with 10 players from the T20 team omitted from the ODI lineup. Nine players return to the ODI fold, while some members of the T20 team retain their places.

Notable omissions from the ODI squad include Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Dhruv Jurel. These players’ involvement in the T20 series ranged from playing all five matches (Samson, Abhishek, Tilak Varma, Bishnoi, and Chakravarthy) to not playing at all (Ramandeep Singh).

The ODI team will see the return of several key players, including Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul. Kuldeep Yadav (last played in October 2024 against New Zealand) and Shreyas Iyer (last played in August 2024 against Sri Lanka) also feature in the squad.

Some players are retained from the T20 squad, such as Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana. The selection committee will face the challenge of choosing the final eleven from this impressive roster.

The Indian ODI squad is as follows: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (Wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana.
