**New Delhi, [Date of Publication]** – Delhi and Haryana will observe a public holiday on Wednesday, February 5th, to facilitate voting in the Delhi Assembly elections. The election, to choose Delhi’s next Chief Minister, will be held from 7 am to 6 pm that day, with results announced on February 8th.

The Delhi government issued a notification declaring the holiday for all government offices, local bodies, and public sector undertakings. Haryana followed suit, declaring a paid holiday for all public offices, educational institutions, and corporations, enabling employees registered to vote in Delhi to participate in the election. This action is in accordance with the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The holiday extends to private sector employees in Haryana registered to vote in Delhi as well.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has banned the publication of exit polls from 7 am to 6:30 pm on February 5th. The ban also applies to the Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu by-elections occurring concurrently.
