Tue Feb 04 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Age-Reversing CEO Abruptly Ends Indian Podcast Due to Air Pollution
**NEW DELHI/MUMBAI** – Bryan Johnson, the 47-year-old CEO known for his ambitious anti-aging regimen, cut short a podcast recording in India due to poor air quality, highlighting the normalization of air pollution in the country. Johnson, author of “Don’t Die,” was a guest on a podcast hosted by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath. Despite using an air purifier and wearing a mask, Johnson left the recording at a five-star Delhi hotel because the room’s air quality index (AQI) reached 130, with PM2.5 levels at 75 µg/m³. He equated this to the health impact of smoking 3.4 cigarettes daily.
In a social media post, Johnson praised Kamath’s hospitality but explained his departure, citing a skin rash, burning eyes, and throat irritation resulting from the polluted air. He expressed surprise at the apparent lack of concern among Indians regarding the hazardous air quality, noting the absence of widespread mask usage even at dangerous AQI levels.
Johnson’s six-day visit to India prompted him to declare that improving the country’s air quality should be treated as a national emergency, asserting that it would yield greater public health benefits than finding a cure for all cancers.
Upon returning to the United States, Johnson contrasted India’s normalized air pollution with the widespread obesity in America, suggesting both issues demand significant attention. He noted that while he had become desensitized to obesity levels in the US, the experience in India highlighted the concerning normalization of severe air pollution.
