**Thiruvananthapuram, February 3, 2025** – The Kerala State Higher Education Council hosted a workshop on Monday aimed at boosting international collaboration in higher education. The initiative, part of the state government’s “Study in Kerala” program, brought together representatives from various Kerala universities and colleges with a team from the University of Michigan.

The workshop, led by University of Michigan professors Zacharia Mathew, Sapna Thwaite, and Matthew A. Witenstein, focused on leveraging Kerala’s strengths – including its high-quality education, safety, inclusivity, and rich cultural heritage – to attract international students and faculty. Discussions centered on strategies for increased collaboration, such as short-term courses, student exchange programs, faculty-led study tours, and summer schools.

Council vice-chairperson Rajan Gurukkal inaugurated the event, which also included presentations by Council member secretary Rajan Varughese, Eldho Mathews (officer in-charge of internationalisation), and research officers Uthara Soman and Tinchu P. James.
