**Hubballi/Bengaluru/Shivamogga, February 3, 2025:** A group of rebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Karnataka are heading to Delhi to demand the removal of state party president B.Y. Vijayendra. Several MLAs, including B.P. Harish, former ministers Ramesh Jarkiholi and Kumar Bangarappa, and senior MLA Basanagouda Patil, are traveling to the national capital to meet with central party leaders.
The rebellion, led by openly defiant MLA C.T. Ravi Yatnal, alleges wrongdoing by Vijayendra and his father, former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, citing concerns about “dynasty politics” and the party’s failure to protect Hindu interests. Yatnal claims the current leadership is undermining Hindutva principles and has accused Vijayendra and Yediyurappa of being intimidated by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar into silence. He further claims that threats of reviving old cases against them are being used to suppress dissent.
Yatnal insists on replacing Vijayendra with a pro-Hindutva leader and emphasizes that continued leadership under Vijayendra will severely damage the party’s prospects in Karnataka.
Vijayendra, however, remains confident in his position, asserting that internal disagreements will be resolved within a week or ten days, and that the central leadership is closely monitoring the situation. Speculation surrounds a secret meeting between former minister B. Sriramulu and BJP state general secretary P. Rajeev, fueling further uncertainty within the party. Sriramulu, while denying reports of his own departure, has called for greater inclusivity within the party leadership.
