**Kochi, February 3, 2025** – The ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) captivated the public on Monday with a captivating open house celebrating its 78th Foundation Day. The event’s highlight was a massive Bryde’s whale skeleton, drawing large crowds. The open house also showcased various aspects of marine life, emphasizing conservation efforts for endangered species like marine mammals.
According to a press release, the exhibition effectively raised public awareness about whale populations and CMFRI’s research on marine mammal stock assessment in Indian waters. To further promote conservation, attendees received illustrated stickers featuring 19 protected species, including whale sharks, Humphead Wrasse, and seahorses.
