**New Delhi, February 3, 2025** – In a joint operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell and a Haryana Police Special Task Force, with the assistance of the CBI’s Global Operations Centre, arrested notorious gangster Joginder Gyong in the Philippines on Saturday. Gyong, who had been the subject of a CBI Red Notice, was deported back to India following his arrest.
Gyong is a prime suspect in numerous criminal cases across several Indian states and is wanted for at least 28 offences, including five murders. These include the October 2020 killing of gangster Goldy Brar’s cousin, Gurlal Brar, and the 2022 murder of international kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian. He is also a suspect in a murder case registered with the Panipat police station in December 2017. Further charges include robbery, attempted murder, extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.
Authorities reported that Gyong, who had close ties to the Devender Bambiha and Arsh Dalla gangs, was living under a false identity using a Nepali passport. He allegedly engaged in extortion and illegal businesses in Haryana’s Kaithal region, operating alongside his brother, Surinder, who was killed in a police encounter. The brothers’ criminal activities, which included extorting money from doctors and excise officials, spanned over a decade, beginning in the mid-2000s.
