Mon Feb 03 07:36:14 UTC 2025: ## Delhi High Court Rejects Urgent Hearing on Election Law Violation Plea

**New Delhi, February 3, 2025** – The Delhi High Court today dismissed a plea seeking an urgent hearing on alleged violations of election laws by political parties ahead of the February 5th Delhi Assembly elections. A bench comprising Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela refused the request for a 2 PM hearing, stating the matter would be heard in due course.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the announcement of freebies by political parties violated Supreme Court rulings and tainted the election process. The court, however, noted that the impact of any such announcements had already occurred, given that the last day of campaigning was imminent. The judges emphasized their decision was not a judgment on the merits of the case itself.

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5th, with results to be announced on February 8th. This rejection comes amidst ongoing political activity, including statements by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about the impact of his party’s policies.
