**Los Angeles, CA** – Beyoncé secured a historic win at the 67th Grammy Awards, taking home the coveted Album of the Year award for her eighth studio album, *Cowboy Carter*. The victory marks a significant milestone, as it is her first Album of the Year win after four previous nominations and solidifies her status as the most awarded artist in Grammy history with 35 trophies. *Cowboy Carter*, which explores the often overlooked contributions of Black artists to country music, also won Best Country Album earlier in the evening, much to Beyoncé’s surprise. She dedicated the award to Linda Martell, a pioneering Black country musician. This win also makes Beyoncé the first Black woman to win Album of the Year since Lauryn Hill in 1999.

The Grammys, held amidst the recent devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, raised over $7 million for fire relief efforts. The show opened with a performance by Dawes, a local band whose homes were destroyed in the fires. Other memorable performances included Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ rendition of “California Dreamin’,” dedicated to first responders.

Other notable wins included Kendrick Lamar sweeping five awards for his rap hit “Not Like Us,” Charli XCX winning three awards for her album *Brat*, and the Beatles receiving Best Rock Performance for a John Lennon demo revitalized using artificial intelligence. Chappell Roan’s Best New Artist win included a call for better pay and conditions for musicians. Doechii won Best Rap Album, only the third woman to achieve this since 1989. Sabrina Carpenter also had a successful night, winning Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Album. Despite numerous nominations, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish went home empty-handed. The ceremony also included a poignant tribute to the late Quincy Jones, featuring performances by Stevie Wonder, Janelle Monáe, and Cynthia Erivo. The show was hosted by Trevor Noah.
