**AHWA, Gujarat –** Five pilgrims died and seventeen others sustained serious injuries early Sunday morning when their private bus plunged into a deep gorge in Gujarat’s Dang district. The accident occurred around 4:15 am near the Saputara hill station as the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
The bus, carrying 48 pilgrims from Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra to Dwarka in Gujarat, broke through a crash barrier and fell approximately 35 feet into the gorge. Among the deceased are two women and three men. The injured, many with serious injuries, were immediately rushed to a civil hospital in Ahwa. The police reported that some passengers sustained minor injuries. Rescue operations have concluded.
The pilgrims originated from the Madhya Pradesh districts of Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashok Nagar. In-charge Superintendent of Police SG Patil confirmed the details and stated that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
