Mon Feb 03 16:58:19 UTC 2025: ## Sanju Samson Faces Six-Week Layoff After Finger Injury
**Mumbai, February 3, 2025:** Kerala and Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson will be sidelined for six weeks after suffering a fractured finger during India’s fifth T20I match against England.
The injury occurred when a delivery from England’s Jofra Archer struck Samson’s finger while batting. Despite continuing to bat after receiving treatment and even hitting a six and a four in the same over, he was dismissed in the following over and did not keep wicket in the remaining innings. Youngster Dhruv Jurel filled in behind the stumps.
Reports indicate the injury rules Samson out of Kerala’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Jammu and Kashmir on February 8th. While the Rajasthan Royals express concern, they are hopeful he will recover in time for the start of the 2025 IPL season on March 21st. Jurel is expected to provide wicket-keeping support during Samson’s absence.
