VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA – A 20-year-old engineering student, Anmol Singh, allegedly murdered his mother after she confiscated his laptop and phone to curb his excessive online gaming addiction. The incident occurred on Thursday in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Singh, a third-year B.Tech student residing in the Visakhapatnam Coast Guard quarters with his family, was reportedly engrossed in online games. His mother, Alka Singh (47), intervened, concerned about his studies, and hid his laptop and phone. This sparked a heated argument, escalating into a violent confrontation.

Singh, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife and stabbed his mother repeatedly. He then locked her in her bedroom. His younger brother, Ayushman Singh (18), returned home to find the bedroom locked and his brother acting suspiciously. Neighbors were alerted, and upon entering the bedroom, they discovered Alka Singh’s body.

The police were notified, and Anmol Singh was apprehended. Alka Singh’s body was taken to the Navy hospital. A case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother. Reports suggest that Anmol Singh may have underlying mental health issues. The investigation is ongoing.
