Sat Feb 01 09:50:00 IST 2025: ## Utah Hockey Club Swaps Nickname Finalist, “Outlaws” Replaces “Wasatch”

**SALT LAKE CITY, UT – January 30, 2025** – The Utah Hockey Club announced today a change to its final three nickname options for its upcoming NHL season. Following fan feedback and data analysis from a recent survey, the club has replaced “Wasatch” with “Outlaws.” “Wasatch,” named after the Utah mountain range, was initially a finalist alongside “Hockey Club” and “Mammoth.”

The team cited overwhelming fan preference for “Outlaws” as the reason for the swap. The decision comes just one day after the initial announcement of the top three finalists. Fans will now choose between “Outlaws,” “Hockey Club,” and “Mammoth” during the team’s current four-game homestand. Voting will continue at the arena.

This change follows the earlier elimination of “Yeti” from contention due to a trademark conflict with the Yeti Cooler Company. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected the team’s application, citing a high likelihood of consumer confusion. Team executives expressed confidence that the winning name from the revised final three will successfully navigate the trademark process.

The Utah Hockey Club aims to finalize its name and unveil its home and away jerseys before the start of the 2025-26 NHL season.
