Fri Jan 31 20:51:47 UTC 2025: ## Russia Accuses Ukraine of Killing 22 Civilians in Occupied Village

**Moscow, February 1, 2025** – Russia has accused Ukrainian forces of killing 22 civilians, including eight women who were allegedly raped before their deaths, in the occupied Russian village of Russkoye Porechnoye. The killings are alleged to have occurred between September and November 2024. The Russian Investigative Committee, which announced the findings, stated that the bodies were discovered in basements of several homes.

The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, criticized the international community for its perceived silence on the alleged atrocities. Russian investigators claim to have arrested one Ukrainian soldier, Yevgeny Fabrisenko, and released a video of his alleged confession. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, described the victims as having been tortured, abused, and then killed.

Ukraine has not yet officially responded to these accusations. While Ukraine controls several border settlements in the Kursk region, Russia has since retaken several towns previously occupied by Ukrainian forces. The claims remain unverified by independent sources, including AFP, which noted that Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of civilian killings throughout the ongoing conflict. This latest accusation follows previous allegations of widespread atrocities by both sides.
