Fri Jan 31 22:40:00 UTC 2025: ## McIlroy and Lowry Ace Their Way to Strong Pebble Beach Start

**Pebble Beach, CA** – Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry stole the show on Thursday at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, each carding a hole-in-one in the first round. McIlroy’s ace, his second on the PGA Tour, was a spectacular shot on Spyglass Hill’s 15th hole, a 119-yard wedge that went straight in without bouncing. Lowry, meanwhile, aced the iconic 7th hole at Pebble Beach, his third career PGA Tour hole-in-one. This marks the first time since 2009 that the tournament has seen multiple aces in a single round.

Both players finished the day at six-under-par, two strokes behind the leader, American Russell Henley. A host of players, including Jake Knapp, Justin Rose, and Viktor Hovland, trailed Henley by a single stroke.

The tournament also saw the return of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who played his first competitive round of the year following a Christmas Day hand injury. Scheffler finished five-under-par, attributing his strong performance to limiting bogeys. Golf analyst Justin Ray noted that this was Scheffler’s 100th PGA Tour round since the start of 2022 with one or fewer bogeys.

The second round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is set for Friday.
