Fri Jan 31 18:59:07 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Election Heats Up as Kejriwal Accuses EC of Bias, BJP of Poisoning Water

**NEW DELHI** – With Delhi’s Assembly elections just days away, a bitter war of words has erupted between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and the Election Commission of India (ECI). Kejriwal, a former Delhi Chief Minister, has accused the ECI, specifically Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, of political bias, alleging that Kumar is seeking post-retirement employment.

The conflict stems from Kejriwal’s claim that Haryana, ruled by the BJP, has poisoned Delhi’s water supply from the Yamuna River. The ECI has issued two letters to Kejriwal, demanding evidence to support this allegation. The commission stated that Kejriwal’s claims are “promoting disharmony and enmity between different groups” and violate the Model Code of Conduct. Kejriwal has defiantly refused to back down, offering to send water samples to the ECI and accusing them of ignoring other alleged election irregularities, such as the distribution of money and bedsheets.

The BJP has strongly condemned Kejriwal’s statement. Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused Kejriwal of making false accusations and urged him to stop lying to win the election. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra further criticized the remark, claiming it could negatively impact the ongoing Maha Kumbh pilgrimage.

The ECI has given Kejriwal until Friday morning to provide evidence substantiating his claim. Failure to do so could result in further action. Meanwhile, the ECI clarified that a separate complaint regarding high ammonia levels in Delhi’s water supply is being addressed independently.

**(Separate Note):** In unrelated news, the Union Civil Aviation Minister announced plans to introduce an indigenous air taxi service in major Indian cities to alleviate traffic congestion. Trial runs are expected to begin by 2026.
