GHAZIABAD, INDIA (February 1, 2025) – A massive fire and series of explosions involving over 60 cooking gas cylinders on a truck resulted in significant damage early Saturday morning in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which occurred around 4 a.m., reportedly began with a fire likely caused by friction within the cylinders.
The blaze quickly engulfed at least four nearby furniture shops, completely destroying them, and also damaged several parked vehicles. Fire officials confirmed that it took eight fire tenders approximately 90 minutes to bring the fire under control. Remarkably, despite the intensity of the explosions and fire, no casualties were reported.
According to authorities, the truck driver noticed the fire and attempted to park the vehicle near a petrol pump. However, the subsequent explosions caused the petrol pump staff to evacuate. Eyewitnesses reported that some cylinders fell onto the petrol pump property, but thankfully, they did not detonate. The loud explosions and ensuing chaos caused panic among nearby residents. The incident highlights concerns about the safe transportation and handling of potentially hazardous materials.
