Sat Feb 01 12:20:38 IST 2025: ## Opposition MPs Walk Out of Parliament During Budget Presentation
**New Delhi, February 1, 2025** – Opposition parties staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha today during the presentation of the Union Budget 2025-26, protesting the government’s refusal to discuss the recent Maha Kumbh stampede.
At least 30 pilgrims died and 60 were injured in a stampede at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on January 29th during the Mauni Amavasya festival. Opposition members demanded a thorough investigation and discussion of the tragedy before proceeding with the budget. Their demands were unmet, leading to the walkout.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025-26, which includes several new schemes (details to be released separately). The budget session continues.
