**NEW DELHI –** Ola Electric has officially launched its highly anticipated S1 Gen 3 electric scooters in India, marking a significant upgrade to its popular lineup. The scooters, priced between ₹79,999 and ₹1.70 lakh (ex-showroom), boast improved power, efficiency, and a range of new features. Deliveries are slated to begin in mid-February.
The Gen 3 scooters retain the minimalist design of their predecessors but incorporate several key improvements. Ola has implemented a new MCU motor, resulting in a 4% efficiency increase and a claimed 5-fold improvement in reliability. A switch from a belt-driven to a chain-drive system further enhances efficiency. Safety features have also been upgraded with the inclusion of dual-channel ABS and brake-by-wire technology on select models.
The range includes four variants: S1 X, S1 X+, S1 Pro, and S1 Pro+. The entry-level S1 X offers three battery pack options (2 kW, 3 kW, and 4 kW), a peak power of 7 kW, a range of up to 242 km, and a top speed of 123 km/h. The S1 X+ adds a front disc brake and a more powerful 11 kW motor, maintaining the 242 km range but increasing top speed to 125 km/h.
The premium S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ models feature aesthetic enhancements like rim decals and a new aluminum grab handle. The S1 Pro offers 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery options, an 11 kW motor, a 242 km range, and a 125 km/h top speed. The flagship S1 Pro+ boasts a powerful 13 kW motor and dual-channel ABS. It comes with either a 4 kW or a 5.3 kW battery pack (featuring new, entirely Indian-made cells), providing a range of up to 320 km and a top speed of 141 km/h. All models feature Ola’s new Move OS 5 operating system.
