**Shivamogga, Karnataka, February 1, 2025** – Kotehonda Ravi, a Maoist guerrilla who has spent 17 years with the movement, is expected to surrender and rejoin mainstream society later today. Ravi met with K.P. Sreepal, a member of the state committee overseeing the rehabilitation of Left-wing extremists, on Saturday, expressing his willingness to give up arms.
Ravi, originally from a village near Kigga in Sringeri, had become separated from a group of Maoists who surrendered on January 8th. He is reportedly facing over 15 criminal cases and is expected to address grievances of the Malnad region population as part of his surrender.
His surrender is anticipated to effectively end the Maoist armed struggle in the area, as he is believed to be the last active member. Ravi will formally make his statement before Chikkamagalur district officials, headed by the District Collector.
