**ALAPPUZHA, KERALA –** A tragic fire claimed the lives of an elderly couple in their Chennithala home early Saturday morning. Raghavan (96) and Bharathi (86) died in the blaze, which completely destroyed their house. Police have detained their son, Vijayan, on suspicion of arson.
The fire was discovered around 3:30 AM by an autorickshaw driver, prompting immediate alerts to authorities. Fire and Rescue Services personnel extinguished the fire and recovered the charred remains of the couple.
Police investigations suggest a possible motive stemming from property disputes between Vijayan and his parents. He was apprehended near the scene. Authorities have launched a full investigation and further details are expected to be released later.
