Fri Jan 31 19:55:12 UTC 2025: ## Delhi High Court Seeks Answers on Yamuna Water Pollution

**New Delhi, February 1, 2025** – The Delhi High Court has demanded answers from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIDC) regarding the control of untreated water entering the Yamuna River. The court’s action follows concerns over waterlogging in the capital.

The court ordered the DSIDC to file an affidavit detailing the number of common effluent treatment plants (CETPs) installed and overseen by the corporation, and whether additional plants are necessary. The court also expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in installing flow meters in 11 of 37 sewage treatment plants (STPs), noting a lack of progress since November 12, 2024.

The court specifically questioned whether the DSIDC has jurisdiction over all industries and their effluents, and will require the presence of the executive engineer responsible for CETPs at the next hearing. The DSIDC has been added as a party to the ongoing proceedings, which will resume in February. The court’s intervention highlights ongoing concerns about water pollution and infrastructure management in Delhi.
